Bible Criticism II - Documentary Hypothesis (DH) Debunked.
The DH, as academics refer to it, suggests that the Torah (Pentateuch) was not written by Moses, rather by 4 sets of authors at different times in history. This was the basis for the Reform movement in Europe and America and the shunning of Torah observance. One of the claims is that the Book of Deuteronomy was "produced" by Josiah or his scribes when the Book of the Law was found in the Temple, as described at the end of 2 Kings and 2 Chron.
Archaeological evidence suggests otherwise. The findings on Mount Ebal by archaeologist Adam Zertal have uncovered an altar which corresponds historically and structurally with the Altar of Joshua.

The altar was commanded in Deuteronomy, and it is dated archaeologically to around 1300 BCE, which corresponds with the conquest of Israel-Canaan. If the book of Deuteronomy was only written in the time of Josiah, and even later were various laws of monotheism and Kosher introduced, as is claimed by the DH theorists, why was there an altar, where only Kosher species were sacrificed, at 1300 BCE? Furthermore, did the alleged authors go to Ebal and take out an archaeological survey, in order to make their "new" laws correspond with ancient practice? Considering the fact that DNA techniques were not known at that time, it would have been hard work for them to figure out how to retrofit their new laws with the ashes buried at an ancient site.
Many people take the DH as a fact, when there is evidence which strongly disproves its major claims.
DH has actually become a faith in itself, and as such it is to be consigned to the junkyard.

Who was the Jewish Bible scholar who wrote a book/article debunking the JEDP theory? I think he wrote out of the Jerusalem University..
